Carl La Mell, President

Carl joined the FEP Foundation, run by his good friend Hecky Powell, in 2006 to be more involved in the Evanston community (and he loves the BBQ sauce). Carl was the President/CEO of Clearbrook a not -for -profit organization providing services to intellectually/developmentally disabled children and adults throughout the Chicago area. He has created a number of work programs for the people Clearbrook serves and believes the WE program has the same core values of providing people with a professional path while building self-esteem. He has served on many local Board of Directors as well as President Obama’s Committee for intellectual disabilities. He is no stranger to trying to help people reach their full potential.

Hecky Powell, Jr., Treasurer

Hecky Powell, Jr., joined the board of the Forrest E. Powell foundation in mid-2020 shortly after the passing of his father. After completing his degree in Economics and History at the University of Michigan, Hecky has spent the last decade in the financial services industry in a variety of roles that have included working as a financial and business analyst at a large brokerage firm and as a consultant to independent financial advisors through a prominent mutual fund company. Through his schooling, jobs and independent study, he has gained a great depth of knowledge in areas of analytics and technology—both of which he is excited to use to continue and further the mission of the foundation.
